
Oltre 400 donne di spicco da tutto il mondo, tra le quali premi Nobel, ex presidenti e primi ministri, parlamentari, relatrici speciali delle Nazioni Unite, importanti personalità dei media, celebri icone dello sport e attiviste per i diritti umani, hanno sottoscritto un’urgente dichiarazione pubblica che chiede l’immediato rilascio di un’attivista per i diritti delle donne attualmente a rischio di esecuzione in Iran. Zahra Tabari, ingegnere e madre iraniana di 67 anni, è in immediato pericolo di esecuzione solo per avere esposto uno striscione con lo slogan “Donna, Resistenza, Libertà”.
L’appello, promosso da Justice for the Victims of the 1988 Massacre in Iran (JVMI), evidenzia il brutale apartheid di genere del regime e la sua specifica persecuzione delle donne che sfidano la tirannia dei mullah. Si avverte che in Iran “osare esporre un cartello che dichiari la resistenza delle donne all’oppressione è ora punibile con la morte”.
Tra le donne illustri che sostengono questo appello ci sono otto ex capi di Stato o di governo, tre ex ministri della Giustizia e membri del Parlamento di 14 Paesi.

“Donna, Resistenza, Libertà” – Salvate Zahra Tabari dall’esecuzione in Iran
Denunciamo la condanna a morte emessa dalle autorità iraniane nei confronti di Zahra Tabari, madre e ingegnere di 67 anni, nell’ottobre 2025 in un processo farsa di 10 minuti, tenutosi a distanza tramite videoconferenza senza l’assistenza legale da lei scelta. Zahra è accusata di avere collaborato con l’opposizione dell’OMPI (Organizzazione dei Mojahedin del Popolo dell’Iran) e rischia l’esecuzione solo per avere esposto uno striscione con la scritta “Donna, Resistenza, Libertà”, uno slogan di sfida femminile che ha guadagnato popolarità soprattutto tra le prigioniere politiche.
Per quattro decenni, le autorità iraniane hanno imposto un brutale apartheid di genere e istituzionalizzato la misoginia, anche attraverso l’obbligo del velo. Migliaia di prigioniere politiche sono state giustiziate, molte durante il massacro del 1988. L’Iran è oggi il primo Paese al mondo per numero di donne giustiziate in proporzione alla popolazione. Il caso di Zahra mette a nudo questo terrore: in Iran, osare esporre un cartello che dichiari la resistenza delle donne all’oppressione è ora punibile con la morte.
Le donne iraniane, che hanno innescato la rivolta del 2022 e continuano a guidare un movimento nazionale di resistenza contro la tirannia, non saranno messe a tacere.
Chiediamo l’immediato rilascio di Zahra e invitiamo i governi di tutto il mondo a schierarsi al fianco delle donne iraniane nella loro aspirazione a democrazia, uguaglianza e libertà.
